SALT LAKE CITY — If you were a Dominion Energy customer, you may know the natural gas company has changed its name. But, did you know Utah customers are getting a 30% rate decrease?
Dominion Energy has changed names and is now Enbridge Gas.
“We underwent a name change, at the beginning of June,” said Jorgan Hofeling, with Enbridge Gas. “Still the same reliable start service, it’s still the same people that are going to serve you, we’re just going to carry that stewardship on under a different name.”
The company is also lowering the cost customers pay for natural gas by 30%,” Hofeling said.
“An average customer who uses about 70 decatherms of gas will save about $277 annually, which translates to roughly $23 a month.”
The average natural gas bill in Utah is $35.00 per month. Hofeling said most customers will see the largest impact in winter. Hofeling said the rate decrease will still be evident then.
“This is all about market rates. We’re hoping to keep those affordable rates for Utahns as long as we can,” she said.
Enbridge is based in Canada and according to its webpage, “offers service in Ontario, Quebec, and Ohio, and will now serve customers in Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho.”
