SALT LAKE CITY — This morning a rolled semi-truck caused major delays after tipping over taking the connecting ramp from I-215 northbound to go eastbound I-80 into Parleys Canyon.
Sgt. Chris Bishop with Utah Highway Patrol says this happened about 5:30 this morning but there were no injuries to the driver. The ramp connects I-80 to the I-215 East Belt in both directions and is one lane each way in a very narrow space.
A wrecker is in place to upright the rolled semi on the connector ramp to/from Parleys Canyon to the I-215 East Belt.
As you can see, there isn’t much room to maneuver- so this will be a feat.

The Utah Highway Patrol closed the ramp heading westbound I-80 to go southbound I-215 due to the limited road space. This caused huge delays on Foothill Drive, Parleys Way and I-80 throughout the morning commute.
Cal Nakamura said he was trying to go fishing this morning. “I was using Parleys Way to get onto I-80 as the I-215 ramp was closed, but it was not moving. I turned around and went home.”
Traffic was at a crawl on I-80 from State Street all the way to the mouth of Parleys Canyon as people had to use 700 East, 1300 East, Foothill Drive and Parleys Way to get onto I-80 as their alternates. Adding up to an hour to go four miles.
The rolled semi-truck was up-righted about 9:30am and the ramps between I-215 and I-80 were finally re-opened at 10:37am.
