Utah joins U.S. Department of Justice in Ticketmaster lawsuit

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah joined an antitrust lawsuit filed by the U.S. Justice Department against Ticketmaster and its parent company Live Nation Monday morning.
Utah was one of 10 other states to join in the lawsuit Monday, which include Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, new Mexico, South Dakota and Vermont. With the addition of these states, there are now 40 co-plaintiffs in the lawsuit.
The lawsuit primarily accuses Live Nation and Ticketmaster of monopolization, along with squelching competition and driving up concert prices.
The DOJ also filed an amended complaint in the Southern District of New York Monday, which “alleges additional details about Live Nation-Ticketmaster’s anticompetitive course of conduct in markets across the live entertainment industry,” according to a press release.
