Off-duty nurse helps elderly woman who was ejected from her car

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — An elderly woman has been hospitalized with serious non-life-threatening injuries after being ejected from her vehicle in a car accident on Sunday.
Sgt. Carver with Taylorsville City Police Department said the woman was with her spouse driving through an intersection at 3200 West 6200 South, when they were struck by another vehicle.
“It looks like somebody failed to judge the distance properly and turned in front of oncoming cars,” Carver said.
The woman, who is in her 70’s, was ejected from the car and landed on the road. Carver said an off-duty nurse was at the scene of the crash and was able to pull the woman off of the road and then tend to her injuries.
Carver said the woman was brought to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, her spouse was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. The driver of the car that hit the elderly couple was transported to the hospital with a broken bone.
The intersection where the crash occurred was closed until about 11 a.m.
