BOUNTIFUL, Utah — Davis County crews rappelled down a steep incline to rescue a man who lost control of his dirt bike and fell off a mountain in Bountiful.
On Saturday night the 30-year-old lost control on Skyline Drive, above the Bountiful “B.” He fell off a steep embankment, according to the Davis County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office says the man’s friend saw him fall off and went down to help.
South Davis Metro Fire arrived first on the scene, finding the man trapped 125 feet down the mountain with a broken leg and multiple lacerations.
They assembled a rope system and rappelled down to the injured biker, who was conscious. Davis County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue called for a Department of Public Safety helicopter to evacuate the biker.
He was hoisted from the mountain and taken to a local hospital. A second rope system was also used to help his friend get back up the mountain.
South Davis Metro Fire says the man will most likely make a full recovery.
