MURRAY, Utah — You might have seen a flier from The Utah Diaper Bank at your county library and noticed a donation bin.
What you might not know is that this nonprofit is run entirely by volunteers. It has been the exclusive provider of diaper donations to nonprofits across Utah for over 11 years.
They say they are distributing millions of diapers to families in need. They also provide diapers for families in the WIC program.
The need for diapers in Utah is significant
Founder Victor Velivis has learned the full scope of Utah’s needs since starting the bank.
“I used to think the need was around 2.5 million diapers in Utah. I now think it’s more along the lines of three to four million diapers,” said Velivis.
Donation bins will be at county libraries through the rest of the month. But dropping off diaper packs isn’t the only way you can help.
“Because we buy truckloads of diapers we get a highly discounted rate on diapers so we can stretch your dollar a little bit further,” said Velivis.
Velivis invites anyone who can help to do so at your nearest county library, to donate to The Utah Diaper Bank. You can scan the QR code on the flier or Venmo them at @utahdiaperbank.
