SALT LAKE CITY — If you haven’t looked at the calendar, Friday is Friday the 13th, and the day marks the start of Utah’s Haunted attraction season.
Nightmare on 13th‘s Phillip Wright said it was only right that they kick off their season on the ominous day, which comes around only every few years this time of year.
“We’re just excited to launch all of our upgrades,” Wright said. “We went pretty big this year with changes. We’ve got two massive remodels inside the haunted house.”
The Salt Lake City haunted attraction is also hosting 150 foster kids and their families the weekend of Sept. 14. First Lady Abby Cox and her Show Up Utah initiative will also be there to treat the families to a night of scares and fun.
“We would like to give them that experience to both the families and to the kids,” Wright said.
Lindsay Kaeding with Show Up Utah said some youths attending the weekend event come from group homes and residential treatment facilities. Kaeding said hose kids will be brought to the event by the facilities.
“It’s just a really great evening for these youth to just be a teenager,” Kaeding said.
