BRIAN HEAD, Utah — Brian Head Ski Resort plans to open its slopes on Nov. 8, 2024. If that happens it will be the second-earliest seasonal opening in the resort’s history.

“With our snowmaking team’s hard work and Mother Nature’s cooperation, we hope to open as early as possible and close as late as possible,” said Tom Pettigrew, the general manager at Brian Head Resort.

Brian Head Ski Resort celebrates 60 years

This season will mark the southern Utah resort’s 60th year in operation, the press release said.

The resort began with the installation of the first chairlift and T-bar lift. Its grand opening was on Jan. 7, 1965.

In the past six decades, the resort claims to have become “Southern Utah’s premier ski resort.” It has 650 acres of terrain, which is served by eight lifts.

The resort said it will celebrate its anniversary during the week of Jan. 7, 2025.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our 60-year milestone,” said Pettigrew. “This achievement is a testament to the support of our community, the dedication of our amazing team, and the loyal guests who have made Brian Head Resort a part of their winter traditions.”

Prepare for the season

If you are considering skiing at the southern Utah resort this year, lift tickets can be bought in advance for as low as $19. The price may vary based on selected dates.

Parents with children age 12 and younger can take advantage of the resort’s one-of-a-kind Power Kids pass. It is the only pass in North America that provides unlimited skiing to kids aged 12 or younger, for free.

According to the press release, the Power Kids pass does not come with any restrictions. Furthermore, no purchase is necessary to obtain a pass.
