SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah — Emergency crews continue to search for the two occupants of a small plane that crashed into Utah Lake on Friday.
Sgt. Garrett Dutson with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said a call came in about the crash just after 10 a.m.
The plane had been cleared to land at the Provo Airport but crashed into Utah Lake just outside of the Provo boat harbor.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
Two men were on board at the time of the crash. Search and rescue crews in the lake continue to search for the men and evidence related to the crash.
Crews found the wreckage of the plane have not yet recovered the occupants.
Sgt. Dutson said crews will likely be out checking the lake for several hours.
Saratoga Springs Fire Chief Jess Campbell said Friday morning that the plane was submerged in about 8 feet of water.
At the time, Campbell said the occupants had been submerged for an extended amount of time.
Because of how long the crew had been submerged, Campbell said the likelihood of any survivors was low.
