TIMBER LAKES, Utah — On Monday morning, fire officials said the Yellow Lake Fire is now 10% contained. The fire started in late September and has now reached 16,053 acres.
The United States Department of Agriculture said the improvement is due to firefighters having slightly better weather. Winds have died down, allowing crews better conditions to attack the fire. However, the fire is not under control and is still growing.
The USDA also says the Wasatch Back should see improved air quality. However, some areas like Duchesne, Summit, and Wasatch counties, due to the decreased winds, will continue to see smoke.
According to UDOT, SR-35 is still closed between mileposts 12 and 20 in Wasatch County.
🚨Closure – SR-35 remains closed between MP 12 through 20 in Wasatch County due to a wildfire. Unknown estimate for clearance. Avoid the area.
