UTAH COUNTY, Utah — Rocky Mountain Power has an overnight outage planned for parts of Utah County on Wednesday. Areas affected include Eagle Mountain, Cedar Fort, Fairfield and parts of Saratoga Springs.
Those in impacted areas can expect the outage to start at 11 p.m. Wednesday and end around 3 a.m. Thursday.
So, any night owls or early risers might be getting ready for bed or work in the dark.
RMP planned the outage to upgrade transmission lines, increasing their height to reduce the risk of contact with high-profile vehicles on the road.
The upgrades will also minimize future interruptions and improve overall reliability, according to RMP.
Jona Whitesides with RMP said they’ve had the outage planned for a while.
“This one in particular, we’re trying to time it between getting out of the hot season — we had a really hot October — and also before it gets too cold as well.”
Whitesides said RMP sent out emails and texts to those in the impacted area.
The outage will affect traffic lights, which should be treated as four-way stops.
