SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah has Veterans Day celebrations planned for throughout this week.
The University of Utah Veterans Support Center organized nine days of Veterans Day celebrations. Events range from service projects to barbecues and tailgates to honor veterans this year.
According to the Director of the Veterans Support Center, Faa Taupau, on Monday, they will celebrate at the Natural History Museum.
“It’s a chance for us to work with our military-connected students here to come out with their families at the Natural History Museum. Just to enjoy each other’s company and walk around and just a day to hang out,” he said.
The group already placed flags at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Additionally, there was a military appreciation tailgate at the BYU vs. Utah Game on Saturday.
According to Taupau, planning for the Veterans Day events began in January.
This Veterans Day, we honor & thank the brave men & women who have served in our nation’s military.
Our week of events to celebrate veterans culminates with our annual Veterans Day Commemoration on Friday, where we will honor 11 Utah veterans.

He said their biggest event will be on Friday at the 27th Commemoration Ceremony honoring the university’s veterans.
“What it is, you know, just honoring these 11 Veterans, we have their stories, their bios, that people can take a look and see some of the amazing and wonderful things that they have done,” said Taupau.
