More candidates are getting qualified in the race to replace congressman Jason Chaffetz.
Provo mayor John Curtis says he has 15,525 signatures, more than twice what’s needed to get on the Republican primary ballot in August. Volunteers got half and Curtis paid signature gatherers for the rest.
Alpine attorney Tanner Ainge submitted 9-thousand last week, so once those names are certified, both men should be on the ballot.
Saturday is the Republican party convention. It is expected that Curtis will attend, and if the delegates pick another nominee, we could see three names on the GOP primary ballot.
No one submitted signatures on the Democrat side so they won’t have a primary, and will choose their nominee on Saturday for the general election ballot in November.
At least unaffiliated candidate is also expected on the general election ballot.
