One dead, three hurt, in SLC beatings

SALT LAKE CITY — Police say one person is dead and three others are injured after a fight that happened early Tuesday morning near the downtown area.

Detective Robert Ungricht of the Salt Lake City Police Department said the man who died was struck in the head several times with an object, leading to his death.

“We have multiple scenes where physical altercations took place, so that’s what we’re trying to piece together is the time frame, how this all unfolded, who was involved when, and we’re checking local businesses for surveillance video just to find out what actually took place,” Ungricht said.

Ungricht asked for anyone who witnessed the assaults to contact police at 801-799-3000.
