SALT LAKE CITY — Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said Thursday the upcoming April 2020 general conference will undergo even more changes, after announcing earlier it would be “digital-only.”
In a letter to church members, The First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said each session of general conference would be moved to a small auditorium on Temple Square, where it would be broadcast to the world. Only those already invited to speak or pray will be physically present. All music will be pre-recorded.
Previously, church leaders announced changes to the April 2020 general conference sessions that meant only those speaking, praying or taking part in musical performances would attend sessions in person.
All of the changes to the plans for the April 2020 general conference sessions are aimed at slowing or stopping the spread of COVID-19, or Coronavirus.
“By making these adjustments, we feel we can assist those who are working to slow the spread and impact of this pandemic,” church leaders said in the letter to members.
All sessions of the church’s annual gathering in April will be available on KSL NewsRadio via live radio at 102.7 FM and 1160 AM, or streaming on KSLnewsradio.com and the app for iOS, or on Android, and also via smart speaker.
How To Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus
COVID-19 coronavirus is transmitted from person to person. It is a virus that is similar to the common cold and the flu. So, to prevent it from spreading:
- Wash hands frequently and thoroughly, with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds.
- Don’t touch your face.
- Keep children and those with compromised immune systems away from someone who is coughing or sneezing (in this instance, at least six feet)
- If there is an outbreak near you, practice social distancing (stay at home, instead of going to the movies, sports events, or other activities.)
- Get a flu shot.
