SALT LAKE CITY — 4moms and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have issued a recall of almost two million children’s MamaRoo swings and 220,000 RockaRoo rockers.

Thorley Industries, LLC, d.b.a. 4moms, of Pittsburgh, PA, recalled the products after receiving reports that an infant became entangled in the safety straps of an unoccupied MamaRoo infant swing. According to the CPSC website, one 10-month-old infant died of asphyxiation, and another 10-month-old infant suffered a bruised neck.

When the swing or rocker is not in use, the restraint straps hang where a crawling infant can reach them.

The company recommends that all owners with crawling infants immediately stop using the MamaRoo swings and RockaRoo rockers. Further, the company advises consumers to move the swing and rocker to an area their infants are unable to access.

Anybody that bought the products in question can contact 4moms to register for a free strap fastener, which the company says will keep the straps from extending under the swing when not in use.
