Jill Flanagan, South Kearns Elementary

“Ms. Flanagan is part of a three member 5th grade team at South Kearns Elementary. She teach reading and language arts. Many of her students are still developing readers to due the pandemic. She takes time to get to know their individual needs to help them be the best they can be in reading and writing and in lifes challenges. She speaks Spanish and works to improve her language skills every day. This helps her team during home visits, communicating with parents and communicating with new students who only speak Spanish. Ms. Flanagan is one of the directors of the school choir. The school choir meets two days a week in the morning. The school choir has brought a new joy to the school and it’s students.”

“It has been an absolute joy to work with Jill the last several years. Her dedication to the students is truly inspiring. She goes above and beyond to make sure that each students that enters her room knows and feels that they are loved and important. Because these students feel valued, they thrive in her classroom. She has been recognized several years for the great growth that her students have made on the end of year testing. Not only does she do incredible things during the school day, but she is involved on various committees and teaches the school choir so her influence is felt by students in all grade levels. At the end of any given day, you can find Jill outside surrounded by students in her class and beyond that gravitate to her to feel of her love and compassion.”
