-Haylee Birdsall

“He is a very good teacher and he makes everyone feel welcome and he includes everyone. He is not one to give up and he tries very hard to make everyone loves his class. He is very funny and he makes learning fun. It’s very hard not to have a fun day in his class. Even when things get hard in his personal life he will always try and put his students first. He is very good at teaching and engaging and he makes everyone want to take his class forever. He is very organized and put together. He always has a big smile on his face and is always ready to teach us.”

-Shayla Thomas

“Mr. Taylor has always helped out his choirs. He and his family have suffered through cancers, surgeries, and the passing of loved ones, and through it all, Marc Taylor is there in his classroom, with a smile on his face and ready to teach.”

-Luke Jacob

“He not only teaches us how to sing but also why it’s important to keep our voices healthy. He cares about his students and wants the best for them. He understands that music is more than just a fun class but also one to learn from.”

-Joseph Hakanson

“Mr. Taylor is the choir teacher at Copper Hills High School. When he came to the school the choir program was very small. He managed to turn the program around and now the choirs consistently get high scores at their festivals. On top of that he is a great mentor for many students. In the past several years he has himself dealt with cancer, dealt with his son having cancer, and now his wife has cancer. He works tirelessly to help the students learn to love music. He is a great teacher. Thank you for considering honoring him.”

-Victoria Bradford

“He is very supportive, and even when he’s going through something he puts on a good face everyday. He is always kind and you can tell he cares for all his students.”

-Makenna Squire

“Mr. Taylor has gone through so much these past five years. Three members of his immediate family, including himself, have gone through cancer, along with a family death. Despite how much he has going on in his private life, he dedicates so much time and energy to the choir program at Copper Hills. He makes sure we’re on task, makes sure we’re learning as much about music as we can, helps us reach our full musical potential, and makes sure we have fun doing it. He puts a lot of effort into knowing his students, and he values all of his choirs equally. He makes sure there’s absolutely no favoritism in his teaching, and that every student in his choirs feel welcome. He also teaches AP Music Theory, and has a very high student passing rate on the AP test. Mr. Taylor is a phenomenal teacher, and he deserves to be recognized for his absolute dedication to choir and perseverance through personal struggle.”

-Charlotte Hill

“He is an amazing teach and knows how to do it well. He is a choir teacher and he is so patient and willing to help whenever we need it”

-Mariah Davies

-Mia Kingdon

“Mr. Taylor never shies away from the hard things in life. Whenever a student has a problem or question, he always does his best to help and in the kindest way possible. Even as busy and stressing as his life is, he sacrifices every moment of peace for meaningful experiences for his family and students.”

-CJ Dalton

“He is incredible and puts up with all of our problems. He is Incredibly helpful and amazing. He doesn’t get mad and is always keen on helping us get through our problems.”

-Isaac Shelton

“He has gone through so much in his life, especially this past year, but he always finds the time for his students. He helps us grow in our vocal talents and in life. He is one of the best choir teachers I have ever had. He shows love for each and everyone of his students and always always makes sure we know that he loves us and wants to help us become better singers and musicians.”

-Emily Crawford

“Mr. Taylor is an incredible choir teacher, and he’s kept his head up and his teaching just as amazing as ever, even through everything he’s been through: his mom died and he had to plan and attend her funeral, his wife had surgery, and more. He definitely deserves this after everything he’s done.”

-Grace Farnsworth

“He works hard and always teaches in a way that is understandable and fun.”

-Sophia

“Mr. Taylor has been through intense personal struggles this year. Although he was cleared from his cancer struggles, his wife got diagnosed with it too and has had to have multiple surgeries to deal with complications and infections. On top of this, Mr. Taylor recently lost his mom. Through all of this he stuck right by his choirs and continued to teach us and prepare us for performances despite the personal things that were going on.”

-Ryan Mautz

“He sacrifices so much to be able to teach us incredible vocal technique. He’s fun and almost always keeps a positive attitude but is able to get our butts in gear. He is one of the most incredible teachers I have ever had. He deserves this reward and more.”

-Kyle Shiflett

“Mr Taylor does goes above and beyond for his students. He provides us with the coolest opportunities, and dedicates hours and hours of his extra time to rehearse with us. I am so lucky to call myself part of his choirs, he is so talented and has an amazing connection with his students.”
“He has gone through so many hardships with his family, and health issues in the past 5 years, but especially this year. He deserves this honor so much. We as his students see all the great work he does, but I think he needs to be recognized as we see him, from our community as well.”
“He is a fantastic person and an even better teacher. I would not be where I am today without Mr Taylor. We are so grateful for him.”

-Lily DeWitt

“As a choir teacher, he prepares us to sing very hard pieces by teaching us the basics and building on them. As a person, he cares for our well-being and is kind, humorous, and loving. I’m just very grateful for him.”

-Annise Arntsen

“Even through all of the challenges he has faced, Marc always makes sure his students are taken care of. He loves his students. He believes in his students and challenges them to go above and beyond in their music.”

-Ari

“He teaches five different choirs plus an AP music theory class. He really understands in depth what he teaches his students. Despite how busy he is we are always ready for each of our concerts throughout the year. He makes plans for our practice in class to make sure we are ready and prepared to perform. He lost a family member this year and also has been fighting cancer with his wife. You will never notice it until he talks about it because he always has the biggest smile on his face. He deserves this!”
-Meg Gregersen

“Mr. Taylor is always doing his best to make sure that his class succeeds and is always working hard for them. He loves to help us in any way he possibly can and never wants anyone to feel like they can’t do something. He has gone through so much but he still is able to have a smile on his face and help his students which is why he is my nominee!”

-Jacob Gaparasi

“He consistently comes to class despite his wife and himself having cancer. He family has been through so much and he is incredibly brave.”

-Isabelle Madsen

“He is always so happy and kind. Even when he is having a rough day, he is so patient with us, and always manages a smile. He is so supportive of all of us, and you can tell that he really cares. He makes class so fun, while also helping us to do our very best.”

-Madison Crowther

“He works so hard and keeps moving forward despite intense personal and familial stressors and difficult circumstances. He keeps us going and motivates us through all of our work and performances. He supports us in all that we do.”

-Ariah Gilbert

“Mr. Taylor had been through so much this year: his wife got cancer and has many surgeries, his mom died, and he has just got over cancer. Despite all these challenges Mr. Taylor has come to class everyday and has a positive attitude. He always tells us he will give his best and make the best out of choir. He is so funny and hard working even after everything he been through. He’s definitely my favorite teacher!”

-Ava Hind

“Mr. Taylor is our choir director and loves his students soooo much. A few years ago he was diagnosed with cancer. He has now gotten over the cancer, but since then there have been 2 more people in his family with cancer (his son and his wife). Even through all these trials he still focuses on getting us ready for our concerts. He somehow stays so cheery every day when it would be way easier to be grumpy about everything wrong going on in his life. Mr. Taylor is certainly a favorite teacher of many people and he definitely deserves to be recognized.”

-James Hakanson

“He has had a crazy hard year with personal life but never brings a negative attitude to class and never fails to make our class a positive experience and place where we feel comfortable.”

-Elliza Brunner

“These past 5 years have been incredibly difficult on him, with his own cancer, his wife’s cancer, a son who had cancer, and with his mom’s very recent passing. Yet through all of this, even the day after his mothers passing, he has never given up, or stopped pushing our choirs for greatness, or dropped the ball. It has been very hard on him, but he won’t give up on us as a teacher. He really deserves this, because he continues on for us, and has continued to push us for greatness. I can’t explain how huge this is for all of us students, and how much he has impacted us. Some of the best life lessons I have learnt, were from him. Mr Taylor is the best! A bright and resiliant guy and teacher! Us students really do love him!”

-Megan McGee

“Marc Taylor is the Choir director at Copper Hills, and he also teaches ap music theory. I am one of the Copper Hills Madrigals as well as Choir Council, so I’ve spent many hours with Mr. Taylor. One thing I really admire about him is just how strong he is. His personal life has been absolutely crazy for the past 5 years. He has had to fight a battle with cancer, only to be met with his son contracting cancer, as well as his wife very recently and having to go through many surgeries within the past 8 months. Not only this but his mother had just passed away a couple weeks ago. But through it all he still made an effort for his students. He still came to school and encouraged us to be out best. One of his mottos is “Love never fails” and this is one of the reasons he never gives up on us. He pushes us because he knows we have the capability to do difficult things. He makes choir so much fun because its not just a class, its a family. He makes it a point to try and have personal connections with his students. He has helped me grow so much in my time at Copper Hills. Not just in my physical capability, but also as a person. Mr. Taylor is also just a fantastic teacher. He will never have us do busy work, or keep us busy so he can get stuff done. He really focuses on our education and plans his lessons accordingly. He puts in so much effort for us to learn and understand the material. He is also so passionate about what he does and he really shows it. He is kind, compassionate, a hard worker. He is a soilder. Thank you Mr. Taylor.”
