SALT LAKE CITY — Fortnite, the wildly popular video game that gamers love and parents (might) lament is taking the world by storm — and one of the brains behind it stopped by to chat about the phenomenon with KSL Newsradio.

The Epic Games title is enjoyed around the world. Kids play it. Adults play it. Even rapper Drake and superstar athletes play it.

The Creative Director of Epic Games, Donald Mustard, is a Utahn. He joined the JayMac News Show earlier today to discuss the success of Fortnite, and also ask the questions parents want to know about the game.

JayMac asked Mustard about how to parent Fortnite players. He said, “One of our core designs of the game is that it will be living room-safe. ”

“It’s a very social game…we see people coming together, they’re talking and engaging together,” Mustard says.

Fortnite has two game modes: Save the World and Battle Royale. The game started out with only the Save the World mode, where players cooperate with their team to fight in-game monsters by gathering equipment, more powerful weapons, and building structures.

Later, Battle Royale was added–an online game mode in which players either join a few friends or go it solo, parachuting onto an island with 99 other players. The goal is to be the last one standing. Think Hunger Games.
