Pres. Russell M. Nelson visits Latter-day Saints in Caribbean

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints delivered messages of hope and encouragement to church members in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic on Saturday and Sunday.
The church announced on its website that President Russell M. Nelson traveled to the Caribbean to meet with members and missionaries who were impacted by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.
The weekend visit included a Saturday morning talk with missionaries at a church chapel. Pres. Nelson spoke to the assembled faithful in Spanish.
That event was also broadcast to other missionaries elsewhere in the Caribbean.

On Sunday, Pres. Nelson addressed church members during a devotional at José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan. He told the crowd church members around the world had prayed on their behalf in the months since the deadly storms. He also praised them for not giving up their faith, in spite of losing much.
“You can know for yourself that better days are ahead for the Saints of Puerto Rico,” Pres. Nelson said, according to a church website.
Several other church dignitaries took part in the trip. They included Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as well as Elders Walter F. Gonzalez and Jose L. Alonso of the Seventy. All three were accompanied by their spouses.
