SALT LAKE CITY — An interim principal is now in place at West High School as the investigation into the current principal continues.
Officials introduced Stacey Briggs, the director of “focus schools” for Salt Lake City, at a faculty meeting Monday. She will serve as interim principal while Ford White is on paid administrative leave.
White was accused of driving home three students found drunk on campus, rather than contacting police, which is the district policy. A couple of days later, hundreds of students protested by walking out of class.
Salt Lake City School District Superintendent Lexi Cunningham declined to comment on that situation, but did say “student safety has been our number one focus throughout this investigation.”
Briggs previously served as principal at Ogden High and an assistant principal at Provo High. She worked as a teacher at seven different schools before moving into administration.
