Two different polls show a majority of Utahns approve of President Trump.
Utahns give Mr Trump 53 percent approval rating in a new Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll.
And a survey done for UtahPolicy.com by Y2 Analytics shows 52 percent of likely voters in Utah approve.
That’s higher than the national average. The Real Clear Politics average approval rating for President Trump is almost 46 percent approval.
It’s also higher than it has been in Utah. President Trump won Utah in 2016 with 45.5 percent of the vote. Utah Policy says the president’s approval since then has hovered below 50 percent, until now.
When it comes to disapproval, it’s 44 percent in the Deseret News poll, 45 percent in the Utah Policy poll, and 52 percent in the Real Clear Politics poll.
91 percent of the survey respondents who called themselves “strong” republicans give the president high marks in the Utah Policy results. But 99 percent of “strong” Democrats strongly disapproved.
The Deseret News also surveyed how Utah voters feel about other politicians.
55 percent of voters approve of how Governor Herbert is doing his job. Senator Mitt Romney 52 percent. And Senator Mike Lee got 48 percent.
The pollster said the partisan breakdown reflects general perceptions of Romney and Lee’s relationships with the president.
