SALT LAKE CITY — The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square has postponed its summer tour for a year.

The Choir’s 2020 Heritage tour — originally scheduled to take place from June 25 to July 16 — will now be postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release sent Monday morning.

The tour was going to take the choir to seven different locations across Europe and the choir expects to visit the same cities next year.

The Tabernacle Choir said further information about revised dates and ticket information for the tour will be published in the next few weeks.

The Deseret News reports the 360 person choir hasn’t been able to conduct its weekly practices or broadcasts due to the pandemic over the last six weeks. Director Mack Wilberg told reporters he had not met with the choir even virtually since it ceased practices.

Last week, the 173-year-old choir unveiled a new logo showcasing the name of the choir and seven gold organ pipes.

We want to hear from you.
