18-year-old dead after West Valley shooting

WEST VALLEY CITY — An 18-year-old taken to the hospital after a shooting at Kings Pointe Park is dead, West Valley City police say.
Police said they got calls about a possible shooting in the West Valley park just after 6 p.m. Saturday.
At approx. 6:10 pm we were called out to a shooting at Kingspointe Park. Two groups met at the park, a confrontation followed in which an 18 year old male was shot. He is in critical condition and was taken to the hospital. The suspect fled the scene. Investigation underway. pic.twitter.com/tf7xHSUfSd

According to police, the teen was shot after a confrontation between two groups that met at the park. Police are still looking for the suspect, whom they say fled the scene.
The 18-year-old victim was initially hospitalized in critical condition. Police have not released that person’s name, but said they would do so after notifying family.
