Election Night 2020: A KSL NewsRadio live blog

All of the updates below are in reverse chronological order. 

10:43 p.m. — Former vice president Joe Biden addressed the public late Tuesday night, telling voters the final result could be some time away. However, he sounded optimistic. “I believe we are on track to win the election,” he said. “We’re feeling good about where we are.” 

10:40 p.m. — The Associated Press calls Florida for President Trump. The current Electoral College tally stands at an estimated 174 votes for President Trump to 223 votes for Joe Biden. 

10:23 pm — AP calls Montana, Ohio, and Iowa for Trump. This adds 27 electoral college votes to President Trump. 

10:15 pm  — AP calls Minnesota for Joe Biden with 10 electoral votes. 

10:07 pm — Hawaii goes to Joe Biden with 4 electoral votes, reported by The Associated Press. 

9:02 pm — AP calls Idaho for President Trump. This adds 4 electoral votes to President Trump’s total. 

9:01 pm — AP calls California, Oregon, and Washington State for Biden. 

8:39 pm — ABC News projects Trump wins Utah. This is 6 more votes for President Trump. 

8:32 pm  — AP calls Missouri for President Trump, they have 10 electoral votes that will go to Trump. 

8:27 pm — ABC News is calling New Hampshire for Biden. This puts 4 electoral votes in the Biden tally. 

8:01 pm — AP forecasting Cox for the win of the Utah gubernatorial race. 

8:00 pm — AP is calling Kansas for President Trump. This adds nine more electoral votes for President Trump. 

7:37 pm — CNN is calling Colorado for Biden. Colorado had 9 electoral votes up for grabs. 

7:29 pm — AP calls Washington D.C. for Biden. This adds 3 more electoral votes for Biden. 

7:20 pm — CNN Calling New Jersey and Connecticut for Mr. Biden. Combined these two states add 21 electoral votes for Biden. 

7:18 pm — CNN Calling Arkansas for President Trump. This adds 6 electoral votes to Trump. 

7:05 pm — AP calls New Mexico for former Vice President Biden.

7:04 pm — AP calls President Trump picking up Wyoming, Louisiana, and Nebraska.

7:02 pm  — AP, Trump picks up North and South Dakota. North Dakota & South Dakota has three electoral votes.

7:01 pm — Biden wins New York, this means New York stays blue. This gives Biden 29 electoral votes. 

6:54 pm — CNN Associated Press is calling Indiana for President Trump. So they are going red tonight. This gives President Trump 11 electoral votes. 

6:40 pm — CNN is projecting Trump wins West Virginia. 

6:36 pm — The Associated Press calls Arkansas for Trump in the Presidential Election. This gives President Trump 6 electoral votes. 

6:05 p.m. — The Associated Press just released a series of results in the presidential election. President Donald Trump wins Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Oklahoma. Joe Biden picks up Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island. 

6:01 p.m. — South Carolina’s 9 Electoral College votes will go to President Trump,  the Associated Press reports. 

5:39 p.m. — The Associated Press reports Joe Biden will claim Virginia’s 13 Electoral College votes. That means the current Electoral College count stands at 16 for the former vice president and 13 for President Donald Trump. 

5:36 p.m. — The Associated Press reports President Donald Trump has won West Virginia’s five Electoral College votes. The current tally stands at 13 Electoral College votes for Mr. Trump and 3 for Joe Biden. A candidate needs 270 Electoral College votes to secure a win. 

5:11 p.m. — The Associated Press has called the races in Kentucky and Vermont for President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden, respectively. 

5:00 p.m. — Polls have now closed in Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia. The next states where polls will close are North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia, where polls are set to close at 5:30 p.m. mountain time. 

3:36 p.m. — From Maine to Maui, the 2020 Election Night race is on. The first polls close on the east coast in the 2020 presidential election at about 4 p.m. mountain time, which means the first vote tallies will be available even though west coast voters may still be at the polls. 

In Utah, the polls close at 8 p.m. mountain time. By state law, no counties may release results before then. So we expect the very first early counts to start arriving some time after that.
