Utah 2021 first babies...

SALT LAKE CITY — Whether the winner is the mom, the family, or the brand new babies, a few things are clear:  the competition only comes around once a year. And minutes count.

Of course, we’re talking bout the first babies of the new year designation.

It was Intermountain Healthcare that first notified KSL Newsradio about their first-born baby of the new year.

Juliana was born to the McMorris-Harden family of South Jordan at 12:03 a.m. at Intermountain Medical Center.  She weighed 6 lbs. 11 oz. and is 20.8 inches long.

“I’m very excited. I can’t wait to take her home and introduce her to her two-year-old sister. I’m looking forward to the pandemic getting better in 2021 and things getting back to normal,” said mama McMorris.

But this baby was faster!

University of Utah Health was the second to notify KSL Newsradio about their first birth of the new year, and as we mentioned because minutes count, although their email came to us second, their first baby of 2021 was born before little Juliana- at 12:02 a.m.

Those happy parents are the Trease family, welcoming a baby girl named Payton.

Welcome, little ones! While you may not have provided a tax deduction for mom and dad for 2020, you may see some social security benefits down the line as we learned in this article from New Jersey journalist, Tom Wilk.

We want to hear from you.
