Groundbreaking planned for West Davis Corridor...

DAVID COUNTY — Work is already underway on the West Davis Corridor, a new freeway that will stretch 16 miles from the I-15/Legacy Highway interchange in Farmington to West Point.

The Utah Department of Transportation plans a ceremonial groundbreaking for the project Tuesday morning at one of the construction sites near 382 South 3200 West in Layton.

Since that’s in a construction zone already, the general public won’t be allowed to attend. But it will be streamed live on the UDOT Facebook page starting around 10:15 a.m. UDOT Region One spokesperson Zach Whitney says there will be some special guests.

“We’ll have legislators there from the state. It’s an opportunity we have to thank them for the work that they do to look for transportation solutions to support the work of the department,” Whitney told KSL Newsradio.

The total cost of the project is expected to be about $750 million.
