LEHI, Utah — A high school teacher who went viral Tuesday night over comments made and recorded in a video inside her classroom no longer works for the Alpine School District, district officials told KSL Wednesday.

Tuesday, district officials placed the teacher in question on leave, pending an investigation. Then, Wednesday, came this statement:

Although the details of a personnel investigation are confidential, the teacher involved is no longer an employee of the Alpine School District.

In an email exchange with KSL, David Stephenson, a spokesperson for the Alpine School District, pointed to the district’s employee code of conduct, which applies to teachers and other staff as well as volunteers. Specifically, the district’s code of conduct discourages “promoting personal opinions, issues or political positions as part of the instructional process.”

KSL did not independently verify the veracity of the video and could not confirm whether it had been edited. We also cannot say for sure what happened before the recording started.

This story will be updated.
