Fatal accident in Ogden; WSU officer involved

OGDEN, Utah — A Weber State Police officer was involved in a fatal auto-pedestrian accident on Washington Boulevard.
Lt. John Cox with the Ogden Police Department said OPD officers arrived just before 10:41 pm and found a Weber State University officer performing CPR on a 27-year-old man who had been hit by a car. However, those efforts were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead on the scene when medical units arrived.
In a statement from Weber State Police on Friday, they confirmed that the Weber State Police officer who was on duty and on the scene was involved in the accident.
“The officer was on duty, driving northbound on Washington Boulevard near the intersection of 27th Street at approximately 10:40 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, when the incident occurred.
“The officer immediately rendered first aid. The pedestrian was later pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was not injured,” said Weber State Police.
WSUPD said that the Ogden Police Department and the Weber County Attorney’s office are investigating the crash; the officer in question has been placed on paid administrative leave.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
