HOLLADAY, Utah — The city of Holladay has launched Holla Dollars, a “buy local” program that lasts through the end of the year and is designed to help residents help their local businesses. They join the city of Herriman that issued “Herriman Bucks” in June of 2020.

Holla Dollars‘ can be used at a number of small businesses in Holladay. And every household in the city received them in the mail.

“It basically encourages our residents to get out and shop and dine and support our local businesses,” said Holladay’s Community and Economic Development Director LaNiece Davenport.

The Holla Dollars represent $40 in vouchers that can be downloaded electronically and spent in $10 increments through Dec. 31.

“It’s an opportunity for people who may not have visited these different places in the city,” said Davenport. “It gets them a chance to visit places they haven’t been before.

“We have salons, studios like exercise studios, we have stores, we have restaurants, coffee shops, pet salons, anything and everything,” said Davenport.

The city is using pandemic relief money for the program.

“That’s really the goal, we want to support our local businesses that have been hit by the pandemic,” Davenport said. “We realize we are probably on the upswing now, and things are getting better, but still they can use our support.”
