Man in ‘very poor condition’ after West Valley City auto pedestrian accident

SALT LAKE CITY — A man, possibly in his 60’s was fighting for his life late Wednesday night after being struck crossing the street at 3400 South near 1400 West. West Valley police Lt. Bill Merritt says the call came in just before 10 Wednesday night.

“We had a driver who said he struck a pedestrian who was walking from one side of the street to the other, and that the pedestrian was not moving,” according to Lt. Merritt.

Merritt tells KSL the victim was not in a crosswalk. The driver stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.

The man has been transported to the hospital in very serious condition.
