PLEASANT VIEW, Utah — On Tuesday, Weber High School confirmed 46 positive COVID-19 cases among students, surpassing its threshold for in-person learning.

Weber High School is in Pleasant View, north of Ogden. The school serves students in grades 10-12 and has an enrolled student population of roughly 2,200.

On Tuesday, Jan. 18, Weber High School confirmed that 46 students tested positive for COVID-19. The number is just over 2% of the student body.

With the COVID-19 threshold surpassed, and state leaders’ recent amendment to schools’ COVID-19 protocol, Weber High will be able to shift to online learning for a period of time.

The district announced on Tuesday that beginning Jan. 18 through the end of the school week, students will be take their classes online. The school will use a virtual learning platform for the four-day period.

On Monday, Jan. 24, Weber High students will return to school and resume in-person learning after the custodial crew has thoroughly sanitized and cleaned the building.

In the statement released on Tuesday, district officials announced extracurricular activities will continue to take place after school on campus. However, those students who tested positive for COVID-19 are not to participate until they complete the CDC-guided quarantine and isolation

Additionally, the district added that the day care program will be on pause for these four days.

Weber High School joins Fremont in moving online the week of Jan. 17. The Weber School District will also monitor several other secondary schools that are approaching the threshold mark.
