GRAND COUNTY, Utah — One person was killed in a crash near Moab on Wednesday night.

The Utah Highway Patrol reports that a Jeep Wrangler was headed southbound on SR 191 about 23 miles north of Moab when it crossed the road’s dividing line.

Sgt. Cameron Roden said a semi-trailer was being driven northbound in the same location, and the two vehicles collided.

The crash closed the highway for nearly three hours on Wednesday night.

Officials say the 66-year-old driver of the Jeep died on the scene. However, a 38-year-old woman who was also in the Jeep survived and was hospitalized.

The man driving the semi was released at the scene with minor injuries.

An investigation into this crash continues and involves the Major Crash Investigation Team as well as the State Bureau of Investigations.

This story will be updated.
