TREMONTON, Utah — A student at Bear River Middle school was removed from school premises on Monday and arrested after they were found by police and the school administration with multiple weapons.
The Bear River Middle school student was removed from campus and police say there are no other known threats at this time. But there will be an added law enforcement presence at the school.
The Tremonton Garland police department said that other students contacted the school’s administration on Monday to report that the student had a gun. Administrators then called Bear River Middle school’s resource officer, and the student was later found in possession of the gun and a “large knife,” according to police.
When the child’s parents arrived at the school, police asked if they could get more information from the student, including where they got the firearm and what the student intended to do with the weapons. But the parents did not allow such an interview.
The juvenile was then transported to the Cache Valley detention center and booked. Police say the case has been referred to juvenile court.
