SANDY, Utah — A child riding a bicycle is dead after getting hit by a TRAX train while crossing in front of it. The child was a student at Jordan High School.
UTA spokesman Carl Arky says the child stopped at the northbound crossing, but did not see the southbound train that hit and killed them.
“From what we understand, they may have been headed towards Jordan High School.” Arky said. “We are not sure about that, it is just preliminary report. We will know more later on.”
A message was sent out to Jordan High families informing them of the untimely death.
“With great sadness, I’m writing to inform our school community that a Jordan High student has died from injuries sustained in a Monday morning accident on the TRAX line near our campus.”
Jordan High Schools Principal Dr. Bruce Eschler said.
KSL NewsRadio has reached out to Canyon School District for an interview.
The bus bridge has ended. All Blue Line trains have resumed their regular schedules, with some possible residual delays of less than 10 minutes.
