SALT LAKE CITY — The office of Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said that the governor has tested positive for COVID-19.
Gov. Cox tested for the virus on Thursday morning, May 12 after he reportedly began feeling sick with a scratchy throat on Wednesday night.
“So far, I feel fine,” the governor said on Thursday. “Like so many Utahns, I’ve been vaccinated and boosted, but COVID eventually touches us all.”
The governor’s office said Cox will isolate for five days, and wear a mask for ten days.
“And if you haven’t yet, please get vaccinated.”
The governor conducted public appearances on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Gov. Cox’s office is reportedly notifying people considered to be in close contact with Gov. Cox during those appearances.
In this instance, close contact means people who were within six feet of the governor for 15 minutes or more.
“If you feel sick, please stay away from others,” Gov. Cox said.
