SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — The Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to Rockport State Park Thursday evening for a report of a possible drowning.
According to Captain Andrew Wright, of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, individuals on the shore saw a paddleboarder. A short time later, they saw just a paddleboard and a floating shoe. However, authorities are unsure if the shoe is related or not.
Wright says there is reason to believe there is a person under the water. However, emergency personnel are also exploring other possibilities such as the individual was picked up by a boat.
Wright says there are drones searching the water for any signs of the victim. There is also a helicopter on scene in case medical attention is needed.
