WASHINGTON AND KANE COUNTY, Utah – Due to thunderstorms in Southern Utah today, a flash flood warning has been put in place. A moderate, 2 out of 4, weather risk was set by the National Weather Service.
Slot canyons, dry washes, and small streams are expected to see flash floods. This tweet from the National Weather Service Salt Lake City goes into more detail.
Though northern UT will be drier today, showers & storms will again develop over southern UT & the higher terrain east of I-15 this afternoon. Storms that develop will produce heavy rain capable of flash flooding. If out and about this Saturday, have a plan to stay safe. #utwx pic.twitter.com/ZELfK7bXjy

Hikers should exercise caution and even consider postponing outdoor plans. Attempting to cross flooded, or impassable, roads is dangerous and should be avoided if possible.
Northern Utah can expect much different weather. In fact, a few more days in the triple digits could set a record.
🌡️ The Salt Lake Airport is now at 19 days at or above 100°. The record is 21, set last year and in 1994. Both of those years had multiple 100+ days in August. Looking at the forecast, we’ll be close today and tomorrow. Cooler temperatures are finally on the way next week. #utwx pic.twitter.com/83AQJMcRSh
