SALT LAKE CITY — Real Salt Lake has started selling a pin designed to look like green Jell-O in order to raise money for the Utah Food Bank.
“This month we’re focusing on helping the Utah Food Bank with the RSL Green Jell-O Pin. We’re tapping into this iconic Utah food staple and donating proceeds to help those who need help providing food for their families and themselves,” said RSL Director of Merchandise Thomas Warren.
The Utah Food Bank saw a big increase in demand over the pandemic, and that hasn’t gone down to pre-pandemic levels. The food bank previously reported that high housing costs and inflation have contributed to Utahns’ struggles.
“We’re all feeling the pressure of the high inflation and it’s our hope that this contribution can help the people who need it the most,” said Warren.
RSL said the pins were inspired by the success of pins during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
The special Real Salt Lake green Jell-O pin costs $15. RSL will donate $5 from each pin to the Utah Food Bank.
300 pins are available now at the RSL Team Store and online and will be available as long they last.
