SALT LAKE CITY — On Monday and Tuesday, the Road Home’s annual holiday fundraiser is taking place.

This holiday fundraiser provides access to emergency shelters, permanent supportive housing and support services to Utahns experiencing homelessness, through the non-profit.

The Road Home serves 1,000 people in its resource centers for men and women each night, including 100 children.

During the last fiscal year, the non-profit provided over 7,300 people with a warm place to sleep. Also, they gave people the opportunity to move into community housing.

“More than ever, we need to come together as a community to help transition people into a safe home and continue to look out for those in need of emergency shelter during these cold winter months,” said Michelle Flynn, executive director of The Road Home.

At the end of the fundraiser, the Huntsman Foundation will match up to $1 million of donations from the public.

“Utah’s winter temperatures can be life-threatening, and it’s donations like this and donations made by so many big-hearted people that help us save the lives of Utah’s most vulnerable population that come to The Road Home in their times of need,” Flynn added.
