LUCIN, Utah — A 59-year-old North Dakota man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to the disappearance of Dylan Rounds, who has been missing since May 2022.

James Brenner, of Bismarck, was officially charged Friday with murder in First District Court in Brigham City. He was also charged with desecration of a human body, which is a third-degree felony.

Rounds was last seen near Lucin, Utah on roughly May 28, 2022. It is a small town on the border with Nevada.

At the time of his disappearance, Rounds’ family in eastern Idaho told East Idaho News of encounter between the young man and a man on a gravel road. The family says the man flagged Rounds down and asked if he could borrow a phone and get a ride.

Rounds refused to provide the man with a ride, according to the family.
