SANPETE COUNTY, Utah — The Sanpete Search and Rescue (SAR) team carried out another successful slot canyon rescue operation on Sunday morning.
According to reports, four hikers had ventured into the slot canyon late in the day, but failed to make it out by 3 a.m. the next day.
Fortunately, the Sanpete Search and Rescue team was able to locate the hikers after a flyby with the SAR helicopter.
The extended exposure left the hikers cold, wet, and unprepared.
The videos attached were provided by the Utah Department of Public Safety Aero Bureau.
It took every foot of cable available to extract them from the canyon with the helicopter.
The Sanpete County SAR team has been busy, with nearly 200 missions completed so far this year. Half of these missions were solely SAR operations, while the other half involved law enforcement.
