SafeUT Safe Kids Fair, helps keep Utah kids safe

SALT LAKE CITY — Safe Kids Salt Lake County, a coalition led by Salt Lake County Health Department, in collaboration with iHeartMedia and SafeUT are hosting the 25th annual SafeUT Safe Kids Fair this Saturday.
The free fair is taking place at the Mountain America Exposition Center in Sandy from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event aims to educate and empower children and families.
“The SafeUT Safe Kids Fair, a free event designed to educate children and empower families to make the safest choices throughout childhood years,” said the health department in a press release.
Attendees can experience over 100 safety-themed booths and activities at the event.
Some activities include car seat safety, fire safety, police safety, home safety, railroad safety and a bike rodeo course.
Speakers at the event include the following:
- 8:20 a.m.: May Romo, Safe Kids Salt Lake County
- 8:22 a.m.: Judy Copier, iHeartMedia
- 8:25 a.m.: Mayor Jenny Wilson, Salt Lake County
- 8:35 a.m.: Dr. Angela Dunn, Salt Lake County Health Department
- 8:40 a.m.: Ciara Gregovich, Utah Attorney General’s Office
- 8:45 a.m.: 25th Safe Kids Fair anniversary ribbon cutting with kids
- 9:00 a.m.: Doors open to public with bike helmet giveaway
Every year in Salt Lake County, on average, 16,366 children are treated in emergency departments for preventable injuries. Of those children, 329 injuries are serious enough to require hospitalization.
Safe Kid Salt Lake County hopes to raise community awareness and promote safety education for all child caregivers through this event.
