SALT LAKE CITY — Several refugees will participate in a naturalization ceremony to become U.S. citizens this week and the Cache Refugee and Immigrant Connection, CRIC, will host its World Refugee Day Celebration over the weekend.
On Wednesday 100 people, including several refugees, will become U.S. citizens. The ceremony will be at the Rotunda of the Utah State Capitol Building between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
According to a release from the Utah Department of Workforce Services, the event will include the administration of the Oath of Allegiance, the presentation of Certificates of Naturalizations, and remarks by Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson and local refugee author Desange Kuenihira.
CRIC will host its free event Saturday, bringing refugee communities in Cache Valley together to celebrate the culture in Logan, said a release from CRIC. The release also said the event will include food from all over the world, such as Tandoori Oven, Romo’s Mediterranean Grill and Tia Mia’s Sweet Treats.
“The main highlight of this event is the cultural program that features dances from Cache Valley’s very own refugee communities,” read the release.
CRIC said it expects this event to draw in a crowd larger than ever.
