OGDEN, Utah — A suspect is dead following an officer-involved shooting on 8th Street in Ogden.
Ogden Deputy Police Chief Jake Sube said two officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle just around 1:30 this morning when the driver stopped and began shooting at the officers in their car.
“One of the officers was able to make his way out of his vehicle and return fire,” Sube said. “The suspect sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.”
This comes only one week after an officer was injured in a shooting at an apartment complex near the Ogden-Weber Technical College.
“These incidents have an undeniable impact on both the officers and the community,” Sube added. “We are aware of the emotional toll that they can take. In response, we are dedicated to providing officers with the necessary resources and support they need.”
Eight officers from last week and one from this morning are now on leave.
