SALT LAKE CITY — Officials at the Salt Lake Airport City International Airport announced new stores and completion dates during an update on the airport expansion on Tuesday. Twelve new stores and restaurants are coming to the airport for Phase 3.
This is the eastern expansion of Concourse B, which opened with the new terminal in 2020.
Salt Lake City Executive Director of Airports Bill Wyatt said the first five gates on Concourse B East will open in fall 2024, with another four opening in 2025.
Wyatt said Concourse B will play a big part at the airport.
“The other airlines don’t connect traffic here. They’re just bringing local people to some other part of the country or the world and bringing the rest of the world to Salt Lake so it’s a very important role that Concourse B is going to play.”
The rest of the B East gates will open in 2025 and 2026. Phase 4 will expand Concourse B even further in 2026, which is when Wyatt said the entire expansion is set to be completed.
“We’re opening gates every year from now until when we open so we’re really excited.”
Some of the new stores coming in Phase 3 include Freddy’s Steakburgers, Cotopaxi and an Apple-licensed iStore Express.
“The growth that we’re experiencing is really the product of the economic growth of this region. That’s what drives air travel and we respond to that. We’re very excited.”
