SPANISH FORK, Utah — Spanish Fork Police said a 2-year-old boy has been found dead after going missing from the American Leadership Academy football field Friday morning and then drowning in a nearby canal. Police said the boy was with his dad, who helps coach a football team, when he went missing.
In a press release, the SFPD said the boy went missing just before 9 a.m. Camera footage caught the toddler walking away from the field.
Police and volunteers searched for him until he was eventually found in a canal 1/4 of a mile away from the field.
SFPD said that emergency responders tried to aid the boy, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
