Kaysville Fire Department says “handle fireworks with care”
Kaysville Fire Department took to Facebook Sunday to remind residents to be responsible with their fireworks
“While you’re out there this week partying like Brigham Young and the Boys ™️, throwing back alcohol-free green jello with carrots shots, we’d like to remind you to do one thing: handle fireworks with care,” the post reads.
The post goes on to share the following guidelines:
- Make sure to light fireworks in unrestricted areas.
- Light fireworks away from dry grass and brush as well as away from buildings.
- Keep a water source near by when setting off fireworks (I.e., a hose or a bucket).
- Handle fireworks according to their packaging.
Cedar City firework restrictions
In a post to Facebook, Cedar City Fire Department shared an interactive map of “suggested and prohibited” locations to light fireworks.
The Cedar City Fire Department encourages community members to attend its professional firework show on July 24 at 10 p.m. in Enoch. However, if citizens are lighting their own fireworks the fire department offers these guidelines:
- Only light fireworks in designated areas away from “the wildland urban interface.” These areas include the Cedar High School south parking lot, the closed-off street between the Bicentennial soccer complex parking lots, the parking lot at Bicentennial Softball Complex, Iron Springs Elementary parking lot, Canyon View High School parking lot and the Aquatic Center parking lot.
- Dispose of fireworks in buckets of water. Each designated area will have a dumpster for proper disposal.
- Purchase fireworks from legal stands.
- Only light fireworks during discharge times. These are July 22 to July 25 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., extended until midnight on July 24.
Contact your local fire department to learn more about the firework restrictions in your area.
