17-year-old injured after shooting in Ballpark neighborhood

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department said a shooting on Sunday in Salt Lake City left a 17-year-old boy with serious injuries. The SLCPD asked the public for help getting more information on the shooting.
According to a press release from the SLCPD, the boy was shot early Sunday morning in the Ballpark neighborhood of Salt Lake City.
Investigators think that someone began shooting at several people around 1485 South Major Street around 2 a.m., prompting two people to shoot back.
The security footage above, shared by Salt Lake City resident Brayden Santo, captured audio of the shooting.
At 3 a.m., the 17-year-old was dropped off at a hospital with a gunshot wound the SLCPD called serious, but not life-threatening.
According to the press release, the SLCPD identified and talked to the two people who shot back in response to the original shooter. The SLCPD said those two people were cooperating with investigators.
