PROVO, Utah — The Federal Bureau of Investigation has released new details days after agents shot and killed a man in Provo they say had threatened the president. A statement Monday said the man had pointed a revolver at agents before being shot.

FBI agents shot and killed 75-year-old Craig Robertson Wednesday morning, the same day President Joe Biden was due to arrive in Salt Lake City.

Information from that morning said the FBI was at Robertson’s home serving warrants.

The statement released by the FBI on Monday gave more context to how the situation escalated.

In its statement, the FBI said that when agents tried to arrest Robertson, he first resisted and then pointed a 357 revolver at them.

The agency said it would continue to investigate the incident as they would any use of deadly force.
